Red blood cells are responsible for delivering nutrients and collecting waste from various parts of the body. White blood cells are a key part of the body’s immune system and fight foreign or diseased cells.
Platelets help blood coagulate, or in other words, congeal. They join together when needed to prevent the loss of blood and cells. They play a huge part in healing injuries, which means they’re great for regenerative cell therapy.
Similar to stem cell therapy, blood cells are removed from the patient’s own body. However, because blood isn’t naturally rich in platelets, doctors use a centrifuge to concentrate the platelets. This platelet-rich mix is then injected back into the treatment zone on the patient.

As you can see the two regenerative cell treatments do have much in common but they shouldn’t be thought of as competing therapies. Though they can both be used to treat similar injuries, they can often be used in conjunction to achieve the best results.
