The very first King of Hawaii was Kamehameha the Great. His kingdom was established with the sole help from the British between the years of 1795 and 1810. The system consisted of ministers which oversaw different departments and was based on the British political system.

These administrators also acted as the advisors to the monarch throughout 1800s; around this time the powers of the monarch had declined until eventually a bicameral parliament was established.
